Blair, esse direitista...

Duas pequenas histórias que provam que Blair é cada vez mais um direitista, talvez mesmo um perigosíssimo neoconservador!

Blair e Quioto

Blair, além de ter estado nas Nações Unidas (pff... grande coisa, esteve lá cada um!), também esteve na Clinton Global Initiative, onde mandou, autenticamente, "às malvas" o protocolo de Quioto. Através da Tech Central Station, cheguei à transcrição de sessão plenária de abertura, onde verifiquei que Tony Blair, realisticamente, está pronto a pôr o Portocolo de Quioto de lado:

[...] and I would say probably I'm changing my thinking about this in the past two or three years. I think if we are going to get action on this, we have got to start from the brutal honesty about the politics of how we deal with it. The truth is no country is not to cut its growth or consumption substantially in the light of a long-term environmental problem. What countries are prepared to do is to try to work together cooperatively to deal with this problem in a way that allow us to develop the science and technology in a beneficial way.
Now, I don't think all of the answers lie in just - in developing the science and technology, but I do think there is no way we are going to tackle this problem unless we develop the science and technology capable of doing it.

Tal como nota Pinkerton, o autor do texto na Tech Central Station, estas palavras de Blair não tiveram grande eco na imprensa. É que eu me apercebi primeiro destas declarações através do Rotweiler Puppy e do Barcepundit (o primeiro onde li isto).

Blair e a BBC

Nesta passagem por Nova Iorque, Blair ainda teve tempo para confidenciar a Rupert Murdoch que a cobertura noticiosa da BBC do furacão Katrina estava "full of hatred of America". Como se nós já não soubessemos disso. Mas, não faz mal nenhum que Blair se aperceba disso. Os contribuintes britânicos é que são obrigados a pagar um serviço de fraca qualidade.
