China will limit the growth of exports of 10 categories of textiles to Europe to between 8 percent and 12.5 percent a year through 2007 under a deal signed last week to end a bitter trade dispute, state media said Thursday.
The media reports were the first in which China has given details of the agreement reached Friday by Commerce Minister Bo Xilai and his EU counterpart, Peter Mandelson. (...)

All limits would end in 2008, according to the agreement.
Chinese textile exports have surged since a worldwide quota system ended on Jan. 1.

Europe's textile industry says Chinese products are threatening some 2.5 million jobs. The EU has blamed China for a drop of up to 50 percent in Portugal's production of T-shirts.
