The event marks a further deterioration in relations between Moscow and the former USSR republic. Georgia has already been hit by a Russian ban on its most important exports: wine, mineral water and mandarin oranges. Furthermore, the country is totally dependent on Russian gas.

Para quem não sabe, o crime da Geórgia foi prender 4 oficiais russos apanhados a espiar os movimentos das tropas georgianas. Refira-se que estes já foram libertados e regressaram à Rússia.
