David Cameron vs. Gordon Brown e a decadência do Labour

The BBC's Daily Politics programme found 57 per cent of people wanted a "clean break" with policies of the last 10 years.

And another poll asked who would make the best Prime Minister - 35 per cent plumped for David Cameron with 32 per cent backing Gordon Brown.

The ICM survey for The Guardian also asked who is likely to take Britain in the right direction over the next few years - 31 per cent chose Mr Cameron and 26 per cent Mr Brown.

In all, 62 per cent thought Labour did not deserve to win the next election.
